Nakuru police rescue sisters aged 21 and 14 from landlady who locked them in house for a month over rent arrears

Police were forced to break into a house in Nakuru’s Shabab Estate to rescue two sisters who had been locked inside for close to a month by the landlady.
The two sisters - both students aged 21 and 14 - had been trapped inside the two bedroomed house since October 29, after their mother failed to clear Sh40,000 in rent arrears.
The mother, who had only managed to raise Sh19,000, has been feeding them through a window.
Police warned landlords that it was illegal to lock up tenants who defaulted on rent; and landlords ought to give a notice to defaulters before taking legal action
