Nairobi — Nyandarua County was on Thursday morning expected to launch a 20,000 litre Vision 2030 water project in conjunction with the Post Bank of Kenya.
The project worth over Sh8 million is expected to serve at least 2,000 homesteads and over 300,000 Nyandarua residents with water in a series of Post Bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives dubbed Touching lives.
According to a statement by the bank, the board of management of the Postal Corporation of Kenya had approved CSR projects including drilling of a public borehole to serve Madaraka sub-location, Gatimu Ward, Ol Joro Orok sub-county in the Financial Year 2014/15 at a cost of Sh4 Million.
The Madaraka community water project is said to be supplying water to 1,000 households in Madaraka, something that has increased access to safe water to the residents.
The statement also noted that the corporation will undertake the construction of a water tower to accommodate the 20,000 litres of water from the project and install a modern electric-powered water pump to aid the supply of the basic commodity to Nyandarua residents.
