chairperson race to Chad's foreign minister Moussa Faki Mahamat.

Amina Mohamed the other candidates in the
first round of voting with 16 votes while Mahamat got 14 votes. Senegal's
Abdoulaye Bathily and Botswana's Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi had 10 each.
Only two candidates, Amina and Mahamat,
qualified for the third round after getting 17 and 24 respectively in the
second round.
It is after this round that some of her
supporters either backed the competitor or abstained from voting.
Some of the African heads of state close to
President Uhuru Kenyatta who probably cost Amina the victory are:
1. John Magufuli - Tanzania
