- These are the countries Kenyans cannot survive in on Valentines Day, here is why


Aside from weekends, government holidays and birthdays, some Kenyan women live for Valentine’s Day.

So do men, if you really think about it. What’s not to love about Valz with all its overrateD flare?


Flowers, chocolate, wine, scotch, expensive gifts like cars, wedding proposals?


Yap, all that sappy stuff.


So we can only imagine that on this one day, where people can flaunt their significant others on all levels of tacky and be celebrated for being romantic, Kenyans will NOT survive in these countries on February 14.

1. Russia


In 2011, the governor to Belgorod province banned Valentine’s Day to preserve spiritual security. He branded the celebration an unhealthy foregin phenomenon that erodes moral values.


2. Malaysia


The ‘members’ day’ celebrations were banned in Malaysia in 2012 because of the government did not want citizens getting too close in proximity.


Anyone found celebrating it- including hotel managers, staff- were arrested and fined or face a jail term of two years.

Gifts that are very popular during Valentines Day are also banned on this one day.


3. Indonesia


The lovers’ day was banned after conservative Indonesians claimed Valentines is un-Islamic because it promotes casual sex and too much alcohol consumption.


4. Pakistan


The country banned Valentines day on February 14, 2017, with a court ruling it is illegal to observe the day.


The media was warned against publicizing the day and citizens banned from observing a Western tradition that violated Islamic teachings.

5. Iran


The country banned Valentine’s Day because they consider it a decendant Western Custom.


Symbols of hearts, half hearts, red roses and any related materials were banned and anyone found with them is arrested.


6. Saudi Arabia


The Kingdom’s religious police banned Valentine’s Day, and men and women ordered to sit separately in restaurants to prevent public displays of affections because it is taboo.


Anyone found disobeying these orders are sentences to 39 years in prison as well as 4,500 lashes between a ‘disobedient’ couple.


Alcohol, red roses and dancing is also banned on this day.

Sitting together is banned during Valz.


7. India


The event is banned in India for promoting Western values for promoting teen pregnancy and the idea of romance between young people.


Otherwise, couples spotted together must get married at that moment if they are in love. For this, a religious leader will be provided to officiate the ceremony.
