- A man who killed his childhood friend is
now in custody
- He shot the man twice and then hired two
people to dig his grave
- The deceased’s laptop and cellphone was
sold by the killer
A man from Zimbabwe apparently killed a
friend and buried him in a shallow grave. Rodney Tongai Jindu, who is 25 years
old, shot Cyprian Kudzurunga on January 29, and then sent a message to his
friend’s mother, impersonating him.
Jindu also robbed his friend, selling his
laptop and cellphone. He was arrested Friday after giving some inconsistent
statements to the police. He then confessed and even led authorities to the
grave.
Cyprian Kudzurunga, who
was killed by his childhood friend.
Both men had been childhood friends and
churchmates. On the day of the crime, they had apparently been drinking heavily
for many hours.
They drank over at Jindu’s house, and
around 10 pm Kudzurunga decided to go home. His friend offered to accompany
him, and on the way back, as they were going through a footpath, he shot a
bullet from the back into his head, and then another one to his chest.
Jindu then took the corpse home in a
wheelbarrow. The next day, he hired two men to dig the grave, with an excuse
that it was to install a water meter. He also went to sell Kudzurunga’s
electronic equipment, taking the sim card off the phone beforehand.
He installed the sim card in his own phone
to send the text to Kudzurunga’s mother, telling her he had to leave the
country because he had done something
